Additional Information
This voluntary recall is due to the potential for a component in the dehumidifier's compressor to short circuit, posing a fire hazard. YOU SHOULD IMMEDIATELY STOP USING A RECALLED DEHUMIDIFIER. If you do have a recalled dehumidifier, you can return your product to an authorized service center for a free repair. You should not return the recalled dehumidifiers to the place of purchase. Call the Midea Recall Hotline or visit their website for more information.
Midea and GE have received a total of 14 reports of incidents involving smoke and fumes emitting from the unit and eight reports of fires. In six of the reported fire incidents, property damage extended beyond the unit. No injuries have been reported.
The model and serial numbers are important, as not all dehumidifiers are included in the recall. Look at the back of your dehumidifier to find the model and serial number.
This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which will also monitor the effectiveness of the recall program.
